INTRODUCTION

WOW! Science Lab for Kids ® is an on-line learning and research center designed to inspire kids to be creative, to be "hands-on" with finding answers to their questions, and to become tomorrow's scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. With that goal in mind I created WOW! Science Lab for Kids; to offer kids the support they need to be successful in their explorations of the world around them.

Nothing inspires self-esteem better than success!

WOW! Science Lab for Kids was created by a certified science teacher. I've realized there are few resources available, outside of school, to assist kids with projects they are expected to do in school. This is especially true for elementary and middle school students. Outside of a few over-priced "science" toy stores that are more than willing to sell them a canned science project, there's nowhere, and no one, for students to turn for serious help.

WOW! Science Lab for Kids is that place. I offer on-line support, advice, and web links that allow kids to explore the science that interest them, so they can produce a WOW'em project on their own.

My Position on Teaching Creation Science in the Science Classroom

First of all Creation is not science, it was a miracle 1 performed by God, and cannot be explained by science. Intelligent Design assumes that there is a God that guided or designed evolution or created the universe from nothing, and therefore falls under the definition of a miracle. Teaching either should be done in a religious or philosophy classroom, and should not be part of the science curricula. However, discussion or research of either should not be prohibited in science classrooms. Time allotted to their discussion in the classroom should be limited in accordance with local school board policies. Individual or group research should be extra-curricular and subject to scientific methodology. 2

Second, scientists, teachers, administrators, religious leaders, parents, and students must harbor no illusions that scientific knowledge is the supreme form of knowledge; it is an important contribution to the totality of human knowledge. But if we ignore what science contributes it would be a tragedy of biblical proportions. After all God said to Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it...".3 4

For teachers, parents, or students interested in understanding or exploring Intelligent Design The Apologia Project is an excellent resource.

Teachers, parents, or students who want to better understand the opposition to teaching Creation or Intelligent Design in science classrooms, The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) defends the teaching of evolution in public schools. They are in favor of keeping evolution in the science classroom, and Creationism and Intelligent Design out.
